Asalamu alaykum ladies. I don’t usually buy chocolate spread for the kiddos, but let’s be real, they LOVE the stuff and admittedly so do I! Last weekend I decided to make my own version of chocolate spread, and the best thing is, it’s refined sugar-free. It was child approved, and I’m sure Il be making a pot of this weekly to keep in the fridge. It’s great to spread on toast or turn some plain oatmeal chocolatey. I also added a spoonful of it to a banana smoothie I was making and it was delicious Allahuma barik.
Ingredients
1 cup Date Syrup
2 tablespoons smooth Nut butter (I used peanut butter (to keep it sugar free keep use natural peanut butter), but I assume any would work. Hazelnut would make it closer to the ‘Nutella’ taste.)
3/4 tablespoons cocoa powder.
Instructions
1. Simply mix everything together and store in an airtight container in the fridge. It should be good for up to a week.
Enjoy!
Tip- you can easily turn this into a chocolate sauce by omitting the nut butter, and adding a little melted coconut oil instead. It’s delicious on ice cream and drizzled over pancakes.
