Happy Toddler Homeschool Tips

Asalamu alaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu homeschooling mamas.

I hope you have had a joy-filled productive homeschool week with your kiddos. Today’s post is some tips and tricks I thought I would share some tips on how to keep your toddler happy in your homeschool.
For me personally, the toddler ages have been harder than having a newborn. My son wants mummy’s time and attention more than ever now, and rightly so!I went through a period of homeschooling where I felt guilty I wasn’t giving my toddler what he needed, or it was cut short because I had the pressure of teaching the older kids, but alhamdulillah a few changes have helped immensely.  Read More

Minimalist Homeschool

Asalamualaykum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatu ladies

Today I wanted to share a tip with you that has literally transformed our homeschooling experience.

I’m sure many of you can relate to having spent two hours (you had originally planned one) getting carried away with an art project or read aloud. You and the kids felt great after a fun school day. But then you’re greeted by a sink full of dishes, toys scattered everywhere by your two-year-old (that’s his ‘school work’ of course), and it’s almost 4pm and you haven’t even started on dinner.

Your heart sinks…..you just spent all evening cleaning yesterday, surely it shouldn’t get this bad so quickly??? So you print off a meal planner, another morning and evening cleaning routine and off you go again only to realise it hasn’t really freed up much time but on the contrary, made you feel more bound to a schedule rather than enjoying those precious moments where learning really comes to life.

Step in minimalism. Read More

Our Morning Board

Asalamu alaykum ladies,

For the last month or so I have been busy preparing, planning, scheduling and organising our coming school year, and all I can say is I have dark circles underneath my eyes, it’s not easy.

But Alhamdulillah, we’re almost there. As a way to get our mornings off to a good start and set a positive tone to the day I made a morning board that the kids and I could refer to before we begin our school work. After a quick supply shop at Jarir Bookstore, some PVA glue, what seemed like tonnes of foam shapes and a little printing and typing later, VOILA, here it is.

I know you can buy boards, but it was inexpensive to do and I always enjoy personally making something for my kids, they tend to appreciate it more too. Read More

Saturday Morning Kitchen

Asalamualaykum mamas,

How are you all? As a homeschooling mum, one of the things I constantly battle with is how to achieve the perfect school/home balance. There are days school time overflows and then dinner time is frantic, and there are times I prioritise cleaning or cooking but then maybe I had to shorten reading with my kids. My first couple of months of homeschooling were a rollercoaster because of this reason! I wanted to have my cake and eat it. I wanted to be totally immersed with my kids on this learning journey. I loved having fun with them, making messy artwork, reading for hours but yet still tried to have a spotless home and gourmet home cooked healthy meals ready on time. Did it work? NO!!!! Read More
